Race Summary
On Friday, due to a lack of snow, the race start was moved to Rosie’s Field. This was the year of traffic jams resulting in late starts for many skiers. Some indicated that they got out of cars or buses to run to the start area.
Race morning brought the start of an 8 inch snowfall resulting in slower times.
Manfred Nagl repeated as Birkie champion. The top nine men finished within 10 seconds of each other.
Team Birkie was formed; a new youth development program under the leadership of former Olympic coach Steve Gaskill and 1990 women’s champion Lynne Cecil.
